The 90s was chocked full of titles, All-Stars, and honors

Forty years ago, the NBA hosted one of its biggest drafts in history.

In 1984, the NBA Draft went ten rounds, and 228 players were chosen by the twenty-four teams in the league at the time.

The class included Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, John Stockton, Alvin Robertson, Kevin Willis, Otis Thorpe, Oscar Schmidt, and 6-time NBA Champion Michael Jordan.

Jordan and Olajuwon alone are responsible for eight straight NBA titles. From 1991-1998 the Houston Rockets won back-back championships sandwiched between Chicago Bulls three-peats.

Stockton played nineteen seasons — all with the Utah Jazz —and appears in the postseason in every single season. In sixteen of those seasons, he played in all 82 games. Along with Karl Malone, the Jazz was one of the most consistent and durable teams for nearly two decades.

San Antonio Spurs star Alvin Robertson, one of four players to achieve a quadruple-double, was a four-time All-Star, Defensive Player of the Year, a Most Improved Player, and. three-time league steals leader.

All-Star Kevin Willis also played for a stint in San Antonio, where he picked up a championship with the Silver & Black at the age of 40.

Otis Thorpe, who won a title alongside Olajuwon, made the 1992 All-Star Team.

The major bust of the draft was Sam Bowie, whose name remains in the spotlight to this day because he was chosen ahead of the legendary Jordan.

Tonight, the 78th edition of the NBA Draft takes place. No telling what the future hold for the 30 teams in the league, or the city-eight young men who will walk the stage, put on a hat, and take a look at their immediate future.
