Tropical Storm Wemby is coming for basketballs everywhere.

We all know Victor Wembanyama is taking the NBA by storm, but who knew he would have one actually compared to him? With the first likely tropical development of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season brewing in the Gulf of Mexico, The Weather Channel’s Stephanie Abrams took the opportunity to explain the wide span of what should end up being Tropical Storm Alberto to the huge the 7’4” by 8’ reach of Wemby.

This is something I totally would have pulled off if I had fulfilled my childhood dreams of being on The Weather Channel. I always felt San Antonio didn’t get enough mentions, so my goal was to give my hometown more recognition. Alas, I didn’t make it that far (although I did get enough meteorology credits in college before changing majors that I have a minor in the degree), but it’s good to see someone else filling those shoes.

Wemby has already shown the basketball world his huge impact zone with an array of alley-oops and blocks, and he can become even more of a whirling dervish as he improves his handles and pulls off more moves like this.

(And in all seriousness, Tropical Storm Alberto has the potential to bring heavy rain and flooding to south and central Texas in the next few days, including San Antonio, so plan accordingly.)
